This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their 'Personally Identifiable Information' (PII) is being used online. PII, as described in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context. Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect, or otherwise handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our Today app.

What Personal Information Do We Collect?
When you use the Today app, we may collect certain personal information, including Google user data, depending on how you interact with our services. The data we collect about you is what you have provided to us or what is accessed through your Google account with your consent. This may include: Your name, email address, profile image, and calendar titles linked to your Google account (if you choose to sign in using Google to view your Google Calendar events). Information you voluntarily provide when contacting us, such as your name, email, or inquiry details. Usage data, such as how you interact with the app, to improve user-facing features. We do not collect sensitive information such as banking details, physical addresses, or cell phone numbers unless explicitly provided by you when reaching out to us.

When do we collect information?
We collect information from you when: You optionally sign in to the Today app using your Google account to view your Google Calendar events (with your permission). You voluntarily reach out to us via email or through the app to handle an inquiry. You use the app, and we collect usage data to enhance your experience. We do not collect information from you when you use the app without signing in or contacting us.

How do we use your information?
We will use your data to provide you with the services you requested through the Today app. Specifically: Google user data (e.g., name, email, profile image, calendar titles) may be used to authenticate your identity and display your Google Calendar events within the app, if you opt in to this feature. Information you provide when contacting us will be used to respond to your inquiry. Usage data may be used to improve user-facing features and app functionality. We limit our use of Google user data to providing or improving user-facing features, such as displaying your Google Calendar events. We do not use this data for purposes such as targeted advertising, personalized advertisements, retargeted advertisements, interest-based advertisements, determining creditworthiness, lending purposes, creating databases, training AI models, or selling to data brokers or information resellers. We will not use your data for purposes other than those outlined in this privacy policy without your consent.

How Do We Protect Your Information?
Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality of your data. We use encryption to protect your information during transmission and storage. Access to your data is restricted to authorized personnel only, and we regularly review our security practices to ensure your information remains safe. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users via in-app notification within 7 business days, in line with Fair Information Practices.

Third-party disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your Personally Identifiable Information, including Google user data, to outside parties. We do not use third-party services that process user data on our behalf.

Third-party links
We do not include or offer third-party products or services within the Today app that would involve sharing your data with them.

Data Retention and Deletion
We do not retain your personal information, including Google user data, after you stop using the Today app. If you delete the app from your device, all associated data is removed from our systems immediately, as we do not store your data beyond your active use of the app. You may also request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at [email protected], and we will ensure it is deleted unless we are legally obligated to retain it.

Google
If you choose to sign in to the Today app using your Google account to view your Google Calendar events, we access only the data you authorize via Google’s authentication process, such as your name, email, profile image, and calendar titles. Google’s advertising requirements can be summed up by Google’s Advertising Principles, which aim to provide a positive experience for users (https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/1316548?hl=en). We have not enabled Google AdSense in the Today app, but we may do so in the future. If we do, we will update this policy accordingly and ensure compliance with Google’s policies.

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States' consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online.
We do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old.

Fair Information Practices
The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and have influenced data protection laws globally. To comply with these principles, should a data breach occur, we will: Notify users via in-app notification within 7 business days. We also adhere to the Individual Redress Principle, which grants individuals the right to pursue enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This includes recourse to courts or government agencies to investigate and prosecute non-compliance.

CAN SPAM Act
The CAN-SPAM Act sets rules for commercial email and gives recipients the right to stop receiving emails. To comply with CAN-SPAM, we agree to: Not use false or misleading subjects or email addresses. Identify messages as advertisements where applicable. Include the physical address of our business or site headquarters. Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance, if used. Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly. Allow users to unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of each email. If you wish to unsubscribe from future emails, follow the instructions at the bottom of each email or email us at [email protected], and we will promptly remove you from all correspondence.
